The Mazza Fund: Research on the Community Raided During the Jos Crisis

Gender Awareness Trust (GAT), carried out a research project focused on Mazza Village in Plateau State a community that was severely affected during the Jos crisis. The study aimed to document the experiences of survivors, assess the social and economic impact of the raid, and identify the urgent needs of the affected population.

 

The project provided valuable insights into the resilience of the community, the gaps in post-crisis support, and the need for targeted interventions, particularly for women and children who were disproportionately affected by the violence.

Town Hall Meeting on “Violence Against Women” In Kano State

Gender Awareness Trust (GAT), in collaboration with Oxfam UK and WRAPA, held a Town Hall Meeting in Kano State to address the pressing issue of violence against women. The event brought together community leaders, women’s rights advocates, policymakers, and the general public to engage in open dialogue and share practical strategies for prevention and response.

The meeting served as a platform to raise awareness, challenge harmful norms, and strengthen community commitment to ending gender-based violence.

Press Conference to Commemorate the International Women‟s Day Celebration Kaduna State

To commemorate the International Women’s Day, Gender Awareness Trust (GAT) held a press conference in Kaduna State to amplify the voices of women and reaffirm the organization’s commitment to gender equality and inclusive governance. The event brought together stakeholders from civil society, the media, government agencies, and women-led organizations.

Panel Discussion on State and National Radio on “Violence against Persons Prohibition Bill”

Gender Awareness Trust (GAT), in collaboration with the Legislative Advocacy Coalition on Violence Against Women (LACVAW), hosted a panel discussion on both state and national radio to raise awareness on the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Bill in Kaduna State. The discussion brought together legal experts, gender advocates, and community leaders to educate the public on the provisions of the bill, highlight the urgency of its passage, and mobilize public support for its adoption.

Women Development Assessment Meeting in Zangon Kataf LGA

Gender Awareness Trust (GAT) held a Women Development Assessment Meeting in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Kaduna State, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen women’s participation in development and governance processes. The meeting brought together women leaders, community stakeholders, and local influencers to reflect on existing challenges, assess development gaps, and identify opportunities for advancing women's empowerment in the area.

Sensitization meeting, Social Mobilization, Community Drama/ Road shows & Workshop for community Mobilizes and Peer educators on GFATM Round 8 Roll Back Malaria

Gender Awareness Trust (GAT), in collaboration with Global Fund and Indergender, implemented a series of impactful community-based activities under the GFATM Round 8 Roll Back Malaria project in Kaduna South. The intervention took place across key locations including Treasure Hall, Barnawa, Sabon Tasha, Kudenda, and Ungwan Romi.

The initiative featured sensitization meetings, social mobilization efforts, community drama performances, road shows, and workshops aimed at equipping community mobilizers and peer educators with knowledge and tools to combat malaria
